NASA's Psyche Spacecraft Gains Momentum

NASA's Psyche spacecraft has successfully utilized a flyby of Mars to gain momentum and reshape its orbit around the Sun. Launched in October 2023 from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, the Psyche mission is on a six-year journey to explore the Solar System's largest metal asteroid, also named Psyche. The spacecraft, which uses plasma engines to gradually build up impulse, got an initial lift from a powerful SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. Spacecraft Trajectory

The recent flyby of Mars, which took the spacecraft within 2,864 miles of the Martian surface, provided a crucial boost to the Psyche spacecraft.
